The Vibratess terahertz (THz) spectroscopy system provides an important novel and accurate technique to characterize biological materials at ambient temperature without special reagents or destruction of samples.

The system identifies species-specific spectral ‘fingerprints’ of biomolecules for rapid identification, including distinguishing species subtypes, for example, deadly E. coli from non-harmful subtypes. This system therefore has many important applications.
