Patrick J. Klepcyk

Director, Licensing

Patrick Klepcyk joined the UVA Licensing & Ventures Group as the Associate Director of Licensing in November 2012 bringing his expertise in negotiation to the team. Patrick was promoted to Director of Licensing in July 2016 and set the standard for how LVG approaches licensing deals. Now leading the team, Patrick is responsible for the commercialization of UVA discoveries through business development, partnering, licensing and new venture formation.

In his years at LVG, Patrick has become a reliable liaison to the UVA School of Architecture, Nursing, Dentistry, Medicine, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Pathology, Surgery, Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology, the Center for Public Health Genomics, and the Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center.

Prior to joining LVG, Patrick most recently worked with the Industry Liaison Office of the National University of Singapore. He has held senior positions in business development at GlaxoSmithKline R&D China, Cleveland Clinic Innovations and Case Western Reserve University’s Technology Transfer Office. Patrick’s experience in negotiating deals involving a variety of technologies began in 2004, after holding research positions in both academia and industry.

Having previously worked with Michael Straightiff at Case Western Reserve University, Patrick welcomed the opportunity to join him at LVG and help shape the team of licensing managers. After living in Southeast Asia for a short time, Patrick has settled into life in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife and four children.
