Megan Bartels joined UVA LVG in May 2017 as the Manager, Strategic Communications. She is tasked with shaping the LVG narrative through the successes of UVA faculty researchers, the creation of new ventures, licensing deals, and the internal growth of the organization to increase the understanding of its mission among key stakeholders.

Megan supports the LVG team through all facets of communication including faculty engagement efforts, media relations, the development of marketing materials, strategic partnerships, and the creation of the organization’s annual report. She also manages the LVG website, social media, and coordinates special events including the LVG Annual Fall Open House and the Innovator of the Year celebration. 

Prior to joining LVG, Megan served as a corporate communications account executive for an award winning public 
relations agency in Chicago. There, she provided strategic client support for a selection of clients across the real estate, development, hospitality and non-profit industries.

Notable client counsel during Megan's agency career includes the planning and development of a multi-year comprehensive communications and media strategy for Navy Pier, Inc. in preparation for the organization’s Centennial Celebration and $300 million transformation. She served as the lead media relations manager during large-scale announcements including Aon’s five-year corporate sponsorship, and the purchase and construction of the new Ferris Wheel. 

Megan has secured placements in national media including The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, and USA Today, among others on behalf of Navy Pier. Her work earned a 2017 Skyline Award from the Chicago Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for Media Relations - Nonprofit Organizations.

Megan is enjoying the mild winters and Blue Ridge Mountain views of Charlottesville with her husband and their golden retriever, Molly.
