Joshua P. Mauldin, Ph.D.

Licensing Manager

Josh Mauldin joined the UVA Licensing & Ventures Group in March 2012 as a Licensing Associate and later promoted to Licensing Manager. Working predominantly with technologies in biomedical science and chemistry, Josh is responsible for evaluating the patentability and marketability of specific assets created from UVA research.

In his years at LVG, Josh has become a reliable liaison to the UVA departments of Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Medicine, Physics, Statists, and the Beirne B. Carter Center for Immunology Research.

Josh worked as a graduate student intern at LVG while completing his Ph.D. in Cell Biology at the University of Virginia, where he studied the signaling mechanisms that regulate cytokine gene expression in macrophages following bacterial infection.

Josh never fails to provide comedic relief in licensing team meetings, and is equally as lighthearted as he is hardworking. If he can’t get a laugh out of the LVG team, he certainly can with his wife and two young children.
