John R. Carpenter

Executive Assistant

John Carpenter joined the UVA Licensing & Ventures Group as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Office Manager in June 2019. In these roles, John is responsible for the direct support of the Executive Director, first-contact liaising, and developing automated processes to streamline office management.

Prior to joining the Licensing & Ventures Group, John attended the University of Virginia as a graduate student, earning a Master of Arts in Philosophical Theology, and received dual undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the College of William and Mary. He has chaired and presented on panels at the American Academy of Religion, co-founded several outreach and collaborative organizations in and out of academia, and was honored with a President’s Award for Citizenship from W&M Athletics in 2015.

Nowadays, John writes less than he should, reads more than he ought, and spends as much time outside as life allows.
