Johnathon Dooley (COL ’11) is a Licensing Analyst, supporting LVG’s life sciences portfolio. In this role, he works with University of Virginia researchers on the development of their technologies of interest to evaluate for patentability, manage subsequent patenting matters and identify potential commercial partners.

Johnathon studied chemistry throughout his time as an undergraduate at UVA and went on to obtain his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, where he explored novel catalytic reactions in organic chemistry. He has held two research associate positions at UVA since obtaining his Ph.D. During both, he conducted medicinal chemistry research to synthesize small molecules for the treatment of cancers. And it was during his first postdoctoral experience that he was introduced to UVA LVG and the work that they do. With a love of UVA, Johnathon is thrilled to support the institution’s exceptional research.

When he’s not working, Johnathon enjoys spending time with his wife and puppy, attending UVA sporting events and watching professional tennis.
