Federal Funding & Venture Capital for Tech Startups -- Lunch & Learn

Date: Aug 11, 2016
Time: 11:30AM
Location: TeqCorner 1616 Anderson Road 3rd Floor Conference Room McLean, VA

This session will feature an intro to the Federal
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology
Transfer (STTR) funding programs, an overview of CIT’s SBIR/STTR Support
Program, a discussion on the current state of investing across various
sectors, tips to secure venture funding, and an overview of CIT’s GAP
Investment Fund.

SBIR/STTR provides $150K - $1.5M in early stage grants to small, for profit companies for high risk technology development that has commercialization potential. More than $2.2B in grants awarded each year via these programs.  For early stage companies, SBIR/STTR provides funding that could not be secured by other private capital due to the early stage nature of the research.

Robert Brooke of CIT’s Federal Funding Assistance Program will provide an intro to SBIR/STTR, including details on the participating agencies, funding amounts, how agencies differ, and tips to plan your next steps.

The session ends with a “state of energy investing” talk by Marco Rubin, Senior Investment Director, CIT GAP Funds. Advance Registration Requested for Lunch order purposes.
