E*Society: Defining A Concept

This E*Society event will feature Jim Zuffoletti, winner of the 2003 Business Plan Competition and founder of OpenQ. Zuffoletti will speak about how he and his classmates turned their concept (and winning business plan) into a successful business. Interested attendees will also have the opportunity to pitch their ideas for the upcoming U.Va. Entrepreneurship Cup concept competition to receive feedback from others during the networking portion of the event. Free Mellow Mushroom pizza will be provided.

Zuffoletti has been a founder of start-up organizations as both an entrepreneur and an intrapreneur and has served life science companies for the past fifteen years. As president of OpenQ. he has been a catalyst for determining the company’s strategic direction and for forging critical relationships with customers in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industry segments. He is also responsible for customer relationships and results. Prior to founding OpenQ, Zuffoletti was a founder of FreeMarkets Inc., a pioneering e-business company. While at FreeMarkets, Zuffoletti served in a number of senior leadership capacities, including sales leadership and general management. Before FreeMarkets, Zuffoletti started his career at GE in a variety of positions in finance and business development. Zuffoletti holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Amherst College and holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business.
